Craps Etiquette

Many land-based and virtual gaming establishments offer craps, a dice-based gambling game.

In the dice game craps, participants take it in turns rolling two dice and betting on the results. There are multiple rounds in the game. The “shooter” (the person who rolls the dice) starts each round with a “come-out roll.”

Common Wagers in Craps

Bets in online craps come in a wide variety, and some of them may get rather intricate.

Craps is a game that can be played without knowing all of these specific bets. Every player of online craps, however, should be familiar with a select few crap wagers. Craps bets can be placed in a brick-and-mortar casino or via the Internet.

Gambling on the Line

The table below provides a quick summary of the four most fundamental lines bets in online craps. Each of these craps wagers is described in depth below the table.

BETS ON THE PASS LINE

One of the most common and fundamental wagers in online craps is the pass line bet. Many different types of online craps bets can be derived from the Pass Line bet. Almost all craps players use the same pass line, which increases the game’s energy and sense of community. If the wager fails, everyone takes a loss. If the wager is successful, there will be ecstatic celebrations all around.

The come-out roll determines the outcome of a pass line bet. A 7 or 11 on the come-out roll ensures a victory for the bettor. A loss is guaranteed on the come-out roll of a 2, 3, or 12. A point is made and the round continues if any other number is rolled (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10).

If a point is made, the shooter keeps rolling the dice until he or she makes the same point again or rolls a 7. The pass line bet is successful if the point is rolled again before a 7. The pass line bet is lost if a 7 is rolled before the point is re-rolled.

To paraphrase: 2. DON’T PASS BET

This craps wager is the polar opposite of the pass line bet and is hence known as the “Don’t Pass.” If the come-out roll is a 2 or 3 (a 12 is a tie), the don’t pass bet is a sure winner. The come-out roll of a 7 or 11 is a sure way to lose your wager.

If a point is made (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10), and a 7 is rolled before a new point is made, the player who bet “don’t pass” wins their wager. The shooter loses a don’t pass bet if he or she rolls the point again before a 7.

The Don’t Pass Bet is an unorthodox wager in craps and is usually frowned upon by other players. You are placing a bet against the rest of the craps table, hence the name “betting the dark side,” which describes this type of wager. The other craps players will have lost their money if your “don’t pass” bet wins. When you play craps online from the comfort of your own home, you can place any wager you like.

COME BET 3.

The only difference between a Come Bet and a Pass Line Bet is that the Come Bet is placed after the come-out roll. The come bet is similar to the pass line bet in that it is automatically successful on a roll of 7 or 11. The come bet is immediately lost on a 2, 3, or 12.

The wager is placed on a box corresponding to the rolled number, regardless of whether it is 2 or 6. The wager is now similar to the pass line wager. The come bet is successful if the shooter rolls this set number before rolling a 7. The bet is lost if a 7 is rolled before the original number is rerolled.

Don’t come bet on it.

As its name implies, the Don’t Come Bet is the inverse of the Come Bet. Don’t come bets are also made following the come-out roll, although for different reasons. This craps wager is an assured winner on a roll of a 2 or 3 (a 12 is a push). The don’t come bet is immediately lost with a roll of a 7 or 11.

If the shooter lands on a number other than “come,” the bet loses. If a 7 is rolled before that number is rolled again, the wager on the box representing that number is successful. If a new roll results in a number lower than 7, the don’t come bet will be unsuccessful.

These are the most fundamental wagers in the game of craps played online. We advise you to practice these fundamental bets in craps before moving on to more advanced wagers. You can place these four wagers at any online gaming site that features a craps table.
